Car Manufacturer Must Pay All Legal Fees!

Lemon law vehicles

The state lemon law in California is intended to protect new car buyers from purchasing defective vehicles. The law requires manufacturers to buy back cars after a certain number of repair attempts. The law does not apply to used cars, but there are several ways that used car buyers can protect themselves before purchasing a vehicle from a dealership or an individual.

Used car buyers should be aware that once they sign an "as-is" contract, pay for a vehicle and drive off a used car lot, they are stuck with their purchase. A good inspection before buying can help buyers save money on future car repairs.

Looking for scratches or dents in a car's body or paint is a good place for used car buyers to start. Seeing signs of major repair work could mean that the car will likely require costly repairs later on. A vehicle that was badly damaged in a wreck will never be the same as it was before, even if someone attempted to straighten the frame.

Buyers should check all windows and doors to ensure that they are in good working condition and look beneath the car for any fluid leaks. Another important thing to keep in mind is that checking a car's history will not always reveal all repair work if the owner repaired the vehicle themselves without using insurance.

New car buyers who discover problems with their vehicle early on may be able to take advantage of their state's lemon law if repairs have been attempted on the vehicle at least twice and the problem has not been fixed. Qualifying buyers may be able to receive up to three times what they paid for the vehicle in addition to any money they spent on it. An attorney experienced in handling lemon law cases may be able to advise clients about whether their vehicle may qualify and what steps they should take next.
